The Dean

Pure Fitout have completed a new and highly anticipated Galway venue for Press Up Group’s sophisticated and cool hotel brand, The Dean. The venue is the third under The Dean umbrella with two further locations in Dublin and Cork.
Spanning over 5,000 square metres, the 100 bedroom boutique hotel is located a short walk from Eyre Square and was designed in collaboration with O'Donnell O'Neill Architects.
The design expertly blends old and new and the building incorporates unique historic structures, including a portion of the Galway to Clifden railway tunnel built in the 1890s, and a two-storey stone building originally built in the 1830s. These unique features have been meticulously restored and incorporated into the design of this brand-new hotel. The striking folded facade was constructed in Irish limestone and finished with alternating bush and sand blasted finish which provides a contrasting light and dark appearance. The graphic black and white chequerboard elevations at the rear of the hotel are a further abstraction of the light and shaded appearance of these traditional walls.

The chic, comfortable, design-led bedrooms, suites and the outstanding penthouse are located in the upper ground, first and second floors and include a variety of features including standalone copper baths, fully stocked SMEG fridges, powerful rainfall showers, hi-tech gadgets and so much more!
The 120 seat Sophie’s Rooftop Bar and Restaurant has three spacious terraces that wrap around the building’s rooftop and provide guests with outstanding views of Galway City. The hotel also includes the West of Ireland’s first ever Elephant & Castle eatery, signature reception area complete with bespoke neon light fixture designed by Irish artist Domino Whisker and a DIME Coffee venue.
The project consisted of bespoke joinery works to our client’s exact specifications including bar areas in Sophie’s and Elephant & Castle, alongside bespoke ceiling panels and crittall screen, bespoke brass elevators and reception area and more.
The third phase of the project is underway and due for completion in the summer and will see the launch of an events space, luxury health club and cosy snug pub.
