Pure Fitout Partner With Madlug To Support Children In Care
As part of our new and ongoing commitment to supporting local charities, Pure Fitout are
thrilled to have partnered with award-winning, County Armagh bag brand Madlug to play
our part in helping provide much needed luggage for children in care.
There are currently over 90,000 children in care in the UK and Ireland with a child entering the care system every 15 minutes. According to one, “Health Trusts don’t provide suitcases. Sometimes foster carers loan us a suitcase but more often, our belongings are moved in black plastic bin bags and we lose our dignity”.
It was for this reason that in 2015, Madlug’s story began. Heartbroken to learn that most children in care transport their worldly belongings in bin bags, Youth Worker Dave Linton decided to do something about it and Madlug was born. Dave founded Madlug under a ‘buy one, give one’ model, meaning that with every Madlug bag purchased, a pack-away travel bag will be donated to a child within the care system.

When we heard about Madlug’s journey and what they do, we immediately wanted to get
involved. Chief People Officer Steph Gowdy, said, "As part of our induction process, all of
our new team members are given a Pure Fitout rucksack to help carry and transport
everything they need to the office, site or when travelling. From now on, Madlug will supply
our rucksacks, meaning that for every bag we purchase for our new starts, a free bag will
be sent to a child in care. This is a truly worthwhile movement and one we are delighted to
be involved with.”
